School girls smile all the way to the classrooms

We operate in a society that is filled with buzzwords such as girls' empowerment and girl-child education. However, most places in Kenya, mainly rural areas of Migori and Nyatike, the organization's focus, still lag in achieving quality education for girls. Inadequate access to menstrual hygiene products is one issue that has posed a considerable challenge to school girls. According to the ministry of education, up to 60% of school girls miss school monthly due to insufficient access to sanitary pads. This is a staggering statistic that derails the efforts made to achieve equality in education. Quality education is a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, and achieving it requires school girls to stay in school and attend all the classes.

Osiep Nyathi has made considerable efforts to provide sanitary pads to schoolgirls in selected schools in Nyatike sub-county over the past four years. The organization has put a smile on the faces of more than 2000 girls with supplies such as sanitary pads, undergarments, soap, tissue paper, distributing more than 100,000 pieces of pads. The feedback from students has been excellent. Mitchel, a class seven pupil at Adugo primary school, has expressed his gratitude towards the organization for its consistent effort to provide her classmates and her with sanitary products. Other girls in schools such as Kayara, Ojawa, Obware, and Akala have also expressed their gratitude towards the organization and its donors.

However, more resources are needed to reach more girls and to help keep them in school. The organization requests donations from well-wishers to enable it to provide more materials to these amazing girls. We believe that we can achieve more when we are united towards this common course. The girls will appreciate all your donations.
